What is a Public Adjuster in Texas?
Some states permit a Public Adjuster (PA) to represent policyholders or insureds (whether homeowners or commercial property owners) during the adjustment of their insurance claim. PAa must generally maintain the appropriate license from any State in which they represent a property owner. In Texas, for example, PAs are licensed and regulated pursuant to the Texas Insurance Code and the Texas Department of Insurance.
Public Adjuster Texas
A Texas public adjuster represents only policyholders—not insurance companies. The insurance companies have their own adjusters, typically internal adjusters or third-party “independent adjusters” or IAs, that they assign to their insured’s property loss. A PA is responsible for documenting, presenting, and negotiating the policyholder’s home or business property claim. An experienced and qualified PA generally has extensive construction and insurance-related experience that can expedite the claims process and avoid unnecessary pitfalls that may otherwise occur during the adjustment of a claim. PAs assist property owners with various types of losses, including, for example, hail, wind, fire, snow, ice, frozen pipes, water damage, hurricanes, as well as other types of losses.

Commercial Insurance Public Adjuster in Texas
Most commercial properties carry extensive insurance protection in order to prevent financial disaster in the event that some form of unexpected damage occurs. An experienced public adjuster who represents the insured’s interests throughout the claims process can be extremely valuable in ensuring that your insurance claim is properly adjusted and paid for by the insurer. Unfortunately, in some cases, insurance companies may act in ways intended to discourage commercial insurance public adjusters from effectively carrying out their job duties.
